Out of the Darkness Berkshire County Walk
The Out of the Darkness Berkshire County Walk will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 at The Common, 100 1st Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
In 2018 this event was held at Monument Mountain Reg. High School in Great Barrington, MA.
This event, which is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), is free to register, but participants are encouraged to fundraise prior to the event.
Registrants are also encouraged to form or join a team. You can find information about fundraising when you register.
Online registration ends at noon on Friday, Oct. 4th, but you can register the morning of the Walk.
Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
The Walks are generally 1- 3 miles long.

Registrants who raise a minimum of $150 will receive an event T shirt.
Walk Day Schedule:
9:00 am Check in and registration
10:00 am Walk begins
There will be light refreshments and entertainment after the Walk.
Proceeds from the event will allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
The AFSP Berkshire County has set a Walk goal of $75,000 for this year.
In 2016 the national organization hosted over 400 events in all 50 states.
Currently, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.
