The Steel Rail Half Marathon/8K  rescheduled from May 17th

October 11

The Steel Rail Half Marathon/8K will take place on October 11, 2020 at the Berkshire Mall, Lanesboro, MA. This event was rescheduled from May 17th.

Race start time will be 9:30 AM for the Half and 10:00 AM for the 8K.

LIMITED TO THE FIRST 1500 registered runners for the Half and 500 registered runners for the 8K.
NO REFUNDS/DEFERMENTS , however; you may transfer your registration to another runner prior to May 13th, 2019.

You may transfer down from the Half to the 8K  as long there is still room in the 500 runner cap for the 8K,with no refund in price difference prior to May 11th, 2020.



If you refer 3 runners who have NEVER RUN the Steel Rail Half Marathon, verified, and we will refund your registration fee!  Register yourself for the race then 3 people who have never run the race before sign up and put your name in the field “referred by”, get 3 new SRHM runners and we will refund your entry fee for the race!  *HALF MARATHON ONLY

Steel Rail Half Marathon Sponsorship!  Sponsorship Information and Sponsor Form

This 13.1 mile scenic run begins at the Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro, MA; Rt. 8 and finishes at the Visitor Center in Adams, MA.  Bus transportation will be provided to bring participants back to the Berkshire Mall following the Awards Ceremony.  All parking will be at the Berkshire Mall (JC Penny parking lot).  The 8K starts at the 8K from finish of the Half Marathon and follows the same course to the same finish line.  Parking for the 8K will be at the Cheshire Elementary School, Cheshire Town Garage, Other Cheshire Public Parking on Main St.


For both the Half and 8K: Custom Finisher Hoo-rags.  1 Free Steel Rail Pale Ale from Berkshire Brewing Company at the race finish. (must have ID and be 21+)  1 food ticket ($3) value for food vendors at the finish party, in addition to standard post race fuel provided by the SRHM.  Music at the finish line until 4:30 PM!


Water stations located at approximately every 2 miles (6 stations on the course).  Stations closest to mile 6,8,10 and 12 will also have a electrolyte replacement as well as water.


A bus will be at the start line to transport your belonging to the finish line.  The bus will have a volunteer race staff on it at all times but BRC and the SRHM are not responsible for lost or stolen items.  The bus will be located approximately 1/10th of a mile from the actual finish line of the race.  Busses will be provided to bring participants back to the parking locations after the awards ceremony.


Half Marathon Prizes: Overall Male and Female top 3 places.
Top 3 in 10 year age categories (0-19,20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69,70+)


8K Prizes: Overall Male and Female top 3 places.

Top 3 in  age categories (0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+)

Race Packet Pick up will be at Berkshire Running Center, 34 Depot Street Pittsfield,  MA 01201 on Friday May 15 form 10AM-6PM and Saturday May 16 from 10 AM until 5 PM. Day of race packet pick up will be at the Berkshire Mall from 7 AM-8:45 AM (Half), Main St., Cheshire Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Trail Head (by the plow) 8:30-9:30 AM for the 8. Please pick up early if possible!

A portion of the race proceeds will go to maintenance and expansion of the DCR’s Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.
