Walk MS Berkshires

Walk MS Berkshires will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Taconic High School, 96 Valentine Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.

The walking route, which is wheelchair accessible, is approximately 4 miles long. The walk will be held rain or shine.

Dogs and children are welcome- both must be accompanied by an adult.

Register at nationalmssociety.org. Participants can register as either individuals or form teams.

There is no entry fee for the Walk, but participants are asked to fundraise in advance of the event. Organizers estimate the cost of putting on the event to be about $25 per person. The average donation raised is about $250 per person.

Participants can earn a variety of cool merchandise by achieving various levels of fundraising. $100 raised, for example, will earn the participant an event T shirt. Higher fundraising levels yield higher valued merchandise.

Bagels and coffee before the event.

Proceeds from Walk MS benefit the National MS Society in their work to fund research to cure MS and to provide services that help people with MS live their best lives.

Walk MS Berkshires hopes to raise $16,500 this year. Last year’s event attracted 62 participants.

Walk MS is the 12th largest fundraising event in the country. Nationally, the organization raises $45 million per year from 400 walk events involving over 300,000 people.

The Miles for Hope 15th Annual Breast Cancer Foundation 5K Run/Walk

The Miles for Hope 15th Annual Breast Cancer Foundation 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Tymor Park, 249 Duncan Road, LaGrangeville, NY 12540. There will be both a 5K race and a 1 Mile Kids Run.

Pre-register at MHRRC.org (click “shopping cart” and “race registration”) or mail- in registration with check to:

Register online by Thursday April 26th, and mail- in registration must be postmarked by April 24th. The first 175 registrants will receive “Goodies”.

The entry fee structure  is as follows:

5K pre-registration – $25, race day $35.

1 Mile Kids Run pre-registration – Free,  race day $10.

The race day schedule is as follows:

8:00 – 9:30 am  Registration

9:30 am Survivors Group photo

10:00 am    1 Mile Kids Run (ages 4-12)

10:30 am  5K (all ages)

Awards, music, raffles and merchandise.

Prizes awarded to overall first place finishers, male and female as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, male and female in each of eight age categories.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation whose mission is “to fund support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer within the nine counties of the Hudson Valley”. To learn more visit milesofhope.org.
