Mumbet Walk to Freedom
The Mumbet Walk to Freedom will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019, beginning at the Colonel Ashley House, 117 Cooper Hill Road, Sheffield, MA and ending at the Sedgwick House.
The four mile walk follows the path of Elizabeth “Mumbet” Freeman who walked from the Ashley House where she was a slave to the Sedgwick House where she retained Theodore Sedgwick to help earn her freedom from slavery.
The walk is free, but attendees are encouraged to fundraise in advance of the event and bring their donations to the walk.
The event begins at 9:30 am with a proclamation read by State Representative Smitty Pignatelli, followed by a brief reenactment, followed by the walk.
The walking route is flat for the most part.
Proceeds from the Walk will benefit RAICES Texas, the Refugee and Immigration Center for Education and Legal Services.

Undermountain Open and Club Championship
The Undermountain Open and Club Championship will be held Sunday, August 25 2019 at Undermountain Golf Course, 274 Under Mountain Road, Copake, NY 12516.
Open to men and women, members and non-members, this is a flighted, handicapped 18 hole tournament.
Prizes will be awarded to members and non-members based on gender and USGA handicap.
Entry fees:
Members $75 walking, $90 riding
Non-members $85 walking, $100 riding.
Entry fee includes sleeve of Callaway balls, roast beef dinner, shrimp cocktail, beer wine and soft drinks.
Pre-registration only, deadline is August 20th. Please reserve your cart early!
Tournament Day Schedule:
This is not a shotgun start.
First flight starts at 9:00 am- Foursomes tee off first hole every 10 minutes through around 10:40 am.
Second flight begins around 11:40 am – foursomes tee off first tee every 10 minutes.
The Undermountain Golf Course supports a number of local charities annually.

Run for the Troops 5th Annual 5K and 1 Mile Walk
The Run for the Troops 5th Annual 5K and 1 Mile Walk will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Pine Grove Park, 174 Curtis Ave., Dalton, MA 01226.
The event is hosted by Cashats for the Troops – Run to Home Base.
The entry fee for both the 5K and 1 Mile event is $20 if you pre register by Aug. 5th ( which also guarantees a race shirt). Race day registration fee is $25. Pre register here: https://racewire.com/register.php?id=10625
The race day schedule is as follows:
8:00-8:40 am Registration and packet pickup at the Rotary Pavilion
9:00 am 5K and 1 Mile Race begin
Awards after race.
Awards will be granted to the top male and female finishers.
Proceeds from the race will benefit The Home Base Program which offers clinical care and support services for service members, veterans and their families throughout the deployment cycle. The Home Base Program also offers education for clinicians and the community about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries and the challenges faced by the returning veteran and military families. The Home Base Program is affiliated with the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital.
