Lake Waramaug Polar Bear Run 2021 Canceled

The Lake Waramaug Polar Bear Run which would have been scheduled for Sunday February 21, 2021, has been canceled for 2021.

Here is what race organizers have to say:

“We are sad to announce we will not be holding the Lake Waramaug Polar Bear Run this year. In accordance with State guidelines, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Run.

Last year’s event was the largest in the Race’s history, drawing 580 runners. Together, we enjoyed a spectacular day at the Lake and achieved our goal of raising $10,000 for Guiding Eyes for the Blind over a 3 year period (To re-experience the fun of last year’s Run visit our photo gallery: https://www.trailheads.com/polar-bear-run-photo-gallery/). We eagerly look forward to returning for the 37th annual running next year.

We would like to take a moment to recognize our Run’s charitable beneficiary, Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Their organization has remained at work through the pandemic, making the necessary adjustments to safely continue training guide dogs to partner with blind or visually impaired people.

We’re keenly aware these are challenging times but for those who are in a position to do so, please join us in supporting the work of this amazing organization by making a financial contribution of any size. On behalf of all the volunteers who make this event possible, TrailHeads is proud to donate $500 to support Guiding Eyes for the Blind. In addition, TrailHeads will match all donations (up to $3,000).

You can donate here: https://donate.guidingeyes.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2760…

We look forward to seeing you all back at the Lake in 2022!”
