Run For a Cause 2 Mile Run or Walk

The Run For a Cause 2 Mile Run or Walk will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 starting at the Prenoveau home, 421 Hill Rd., Harwinton, CT 06791.

There is no entry fee for this race/walk, but participants are asked to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Either pre-register at greystoneracing.net or register race morning.

Timing is by Greystone Racing.

The race day schedule is as follows:

8:15 am registration

10:00 am Race and walk begin.

Awards and refreshments after the race.

There will be awards for winners in age categories, and entrants can bring their favorite foods to add to the refreshments.

Proceeds from donations will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. To learn more about the Foundation’s work visit jdrf.org.

Harwinton Youth Sports Association18th Annual Golf Classic

The Harwinton Youth Sports Association18th Annual Golf Classic will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Fairview Farm Golf Course, 300 Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

The entry fee for the four-person scramble format tournament is $160 which includes green fees, cart, on-course contests, awards and dinner. There is a $35 dinner-only option. On-course contests include closest to the pin, longest drive, hole in one and closest to the line. There will also be a putting contest.

Tournament day schedule:

9:30 – 11:00 am Registration and raffle – (driving range is open)

11:00 am Shot gun start

Box lunch during play

Award to best team score.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Harwinton Youth Sports Association baseball, field hockey, basketball and soccer programs.

John V. Vendetti Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, 19th Annual

The John V. Vendetti Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, 19th Annual, will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Fairview Farm Golf Course, 300 Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

The tournament is organized by the St Anthony’s Council of the Knights of Columbus.

The tournament is an 18 hole scramble . The cost of the event is $140 per person, or $520 per foursome. The registration fee includes green fees, cart, awards, raffle prize, hot lunch and a buffet dinner. Email evan51@potonline.net to pre-register or register tournament day.

There will be on-course contests such as closest to the pin and longest drive for both men and women, and a free two-year lease on a car from Litchfield Ford for a hole-specific hole -in- one.

Awards, raffle and buffet dinner after play.

The tournament is named after the late John Vendetti, Grand Knight of the St. Anthony’s Council, who conceived the idea of the tournament to raise scholarship money.

Proceeds from the tournament fund several scholarships for college bound high school seniors who are parishioners of either St. Anthony of Padua Church or Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam.

This tournament is the sole fundraiser for the scholarship fund which last year gave 7 qualified high school seniors $1,000 each.

Jaime Kirchner Memorial Harwinton Wheels and Heels 5k/10K Road Race

The Jaime Kirchner Memorial Harwinton Wheels and Heels 5k/10K Road Race will roll and kick off Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Valley Road and Campville Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

The event includes a 5K, 10K (new this year), a 5K wheelchair race, a 5k untimed walk and a 1/2 mile Kids Fun Run. Timing by Greystone Electronics.

Entry fees are as follows:

5K – $20

5K Walkers – $20

10K – $25

Wheelchairs – $20

Kids Fun Run – Free

Race day entry fees same as above.

12:15 pm Registration for the Kid’s Run. the race starts at 12:30 pm.

12:30 pm   Kid’s Run starts.

1:00 pm 5K and 10K events begin.

Awards and picnic sponsored by the Harwinton Rod and Gun Club after races.

Plaques awarded to top male and female finishers, and prizes awarded in seven age categories and three wheelchair categories. Finishers will receive bar soap from Ridge Runner soaps.

The race celebrates the life of James “Jaime” Kirchner, who was born in 1968 with Downs Syndrome, competed in the Special Olympics, earning the Spirit of Life award and inspiring many along the way. Jaime passed away in 2000 at the age of 31.

Proceeds from the race will help fund the construction of a handicapped-accessible trail from Valley Road to the Naugatuck River and supporting the Harwinton portion of the Naugatuck River Greenway.

The Litchfield/Morris Rotary & Litchfield Lions 17th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at Fairview Farm Golf Course, 300 Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

The cost of the four-person, scramble format event is $140 per person which includes green fees, cart, box lunch, on-course contests, awards, cocktails and hors D’oeuvres and buffet dinner.

Oliver Wolcott Technical High School 7th Annual Golf Scramble

The Oliver Wolcott Technical High School 7th Annual Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Fairview Farm Golf Course, 300 Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

The entry fee for the four-person scramble format event is $145 per person which includes green fees, cart, catered lunch and prime rib dinner. Individual registrants will be placed on an open team.

On-course contests include longest drive and closest to the pin.

Gilbert School Blue & Gold Golf Tournament

The Gilbert School Blue & Gold Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Fairview Farm Golf Course, 300 Hill Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.

This is an 18 hole, four-person scramble format tournament.

The entry fee is $150 per person which includes green fees, cart, driving range, gift bag, lunch at the turn, and buffet dinner. There is also a contest and mulligan package for an additional $25 which includes four mulligans and entry to the long drive and par 3 contests as well as low gross and low net prizes. (It does not include “Birdie or Bust” or par 5 “Vintage Driver Advantage”).

There is also a dinner-only $40 option.
