Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club Ham Shoot

The Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club Ham Shoot will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club, 148 South Canaan Rd (Route 7), Canaan, CT.

This is the second of six shoots that will be held in March and April. They are open to everyone. This is a family event , and children can participate if accompanied by an adult.

This is a shotgun-only shoot for 410, 20, 16 and 12 gauge shotguns. Participants should bring their own firearms, but there is a “Club 20 gauge shotgun” available.

The competition requires shooting at a half dollar-sized paper target from a distance of 90 feet. The shot with a puncture closest to the cross-hairs on the target wins the round.

The entry fee is $3 per person, per round, which includes ammunition. Each shooter gets one shot per round. There will be 10 rounds.

The Ham Shoot is an outdoor event and will be held subject to weather. If weather conditions are uncertain, call Gene on Shoot morning at (860) 307-1230 to verify that the event is still on.

There is no pre-registration, just show up shoot morning to sign up.

The shoot day schedule is as follows:

10:00 am   Registration

11:00 am Shoot begins

Prizes are awarded after each round.

The 7th and 10th rounds are cash award rounds. The others are ham or turkey rounds.

The next events will be March 24th, 31st, April 7th and 14th. The April 14th shoot will include an Easter egg hunt for the children. The shoots are a major fundraiser for the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club. All proceeds from the events will help fund the Club’s land improvement program.

Hoops For Hope

The Hoops For Hope basketball tournament will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the McCann Recreation Center, Marist College, 3399 North Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

This is a three-on-three tournament for both men and women which includes both competitive and non-competitive divisions. There will be four women’s divisions ranging from novice to highly skilled. Men’s divisions will be arranged as needed.

The entry fee is $200 per team. Teams must have a minimum of three players and the entry fee accommodates up to six players . The fee for each additional player is $25.

Participants are also encouraged to fundraise either as individuals or teams.

9:00 am – 3:00 pm Tournament

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation which funds support services and outreach for breast cancer sufferers in the nine counties of the Hudson Valley.

Make A Wish Ski-a-thon at Ski Sundown

The Make A Wish Ski-a-thon at Ski Sundown will be held Saturday, March 17, 2019 at Ski Sundown, 126 Ratlum Road, New Hartford, CT 06057.

The event is open to all ages. See how many runs you can ski or snowboard in 3 1/2 hours to win a prize in one of five age categories.

There is a $10 minimum entry fee.

The entry fee does not include the lift ticket price.

There is no pre-registration, simply register on event morning.

The Ski-a-thon schedule:

7:30 am – 11:30 am   Event Day registration in the ski lodge

9:00 am – 12:30 pm  Ski-a-thon

1:15 pm   Teacup drawing and event winners announced

Teacup drawing (a raffle where you can target the prize you want to win) with great prizes- must be present to win.

Proceeds from the Ski-a-thon will benefit the Make- A -Wish Foundation for granting wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions.
