Bill Solan Annual Ice Fishing Derby Canceled for 2021

The Bill Solan Annual Ice Fishing Derby has been canceled for 2021. The event has been sponsored by the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club. The Club also sponsors weekly Sunday Ham Shoots through March 28th.

Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club VFW Civilian vs. Military Rifle Match

The Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club will hold the VFW Civilian vs. Military Rifle Match Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Club’s facilities at 148 South Canaan Road, North Canaan, CT 06018.

No rifle caliber larger than .308. No steel core bullets. no cross draw holsters and no Magnum loads for steel matches.

$10:00 entry fee.

All matches start at 10:00 am.

No signups after 10:15.

Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club Second Turkey Shoot 2020

The Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club Turkey Shoot will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 at the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club, 148 South Canaan Rd (Route 7), Canaan, CT 06018.

No folks, we’re not shootin turkeys here. We are shooting at paper targets where the best marksmen and women can win turkeys and other prizes. This is a family event – children can participate if accompanied by an adult.

There is no pre-registration, just show up shoot morning to sign up.

This is a shotgun-only shoot for 410, 20, 16 and 12 gauge shotguns. Participants should bring their own firearms, but there is a “Club 20 gauge shotgun” available.

The entry fee is $3 per person, per round, which includes ammunition. Each shooter gets one shot per round. There will be 10 rounds.

The competition requires shooting at a half dollar-sized paper target from a distance of 90 feet. The shot with a puncture closest to the cross-hairs on the target wins the round.

The Turkey Shoot is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine- only the most extreme weather conditions will cause cancellation.

The shoot day schedule is as follows:

10:00 am   Registration

11:00 am  Shoot begins

Prizes are  awarded after each round.

The 5th, 7th and 9th rounds are cash award rounds. The others are turkey rounds.

This is the second Turkey Shoot in an eight event series. The Shoots are scheduled for every Sunday morning through November22nd. The shoots are a major fundraiser for the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club. All proceeds from the events will help fund the Club’s programs.

The Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club will hold 3 Gun Assault Course Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Club’s facilities at 148 South Canaan Road, North Canaan, CT 06018.

The event is  for center-fire pistol/rifle and shotgun – 75 pistol/rifle; 25 bird shot (7,8,9); 5 slugs 5 Buckshot.

Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club April 5th CANCELLED

The Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club will hold its sixth and final Ham Shoot on April 5th, 2020 at the Northwest CT Rod and Gun Club, 148 South Canaan Rd (Route 7), Canaan, CT.

There will also be an Easter egg hunt for the youngsters during the event.

The Shoot is open to everyone. This is a family event , and children can participate if accompanied by an adult.
