The Sharon Fire Dept. Annual Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Sharon Country Club, Amenia Union Road, Sharon, CT.

The entry fee for the 18 hole, four-person scramble event is $125 per person which includes green fees, cart, lunch, on-course contests, refreshment cart, awards and dinner. There will be a raffle.
On-course contests include closest to the pin, longest drive and hole in one.
Pre-registration is required, but register early because this tournament fills up fast. Call (860) 671-5758 to register.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Sharon Fire Dept. This year funds will purchase turnout gear.

The Sharon Sprint Triathlon will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Sharon Town Beach, Mudge Pond Road, Sharon, CT 06069. The event which is sponsored by Sharon Parks and Recreation, includes a 1/2 mile swim, a 12.1 mile bike and a 4.1 mile run.
The registration fee for the event is $65 for individuals ($75 day of race) and $75 for teams ($90 day of race). Teams must have two or three members. Ages 10 to 90 are eligible. Fee includes T-shirt, cap and post event refreshments.

Prizes will be awarded to top overall finishers male and female; 1-3 places for age groups, male and female; and teams male, female mixed and youth.

The Evan Rashkoff 1st Annual Sharon Sunset Trot , sponsored by the Sharon Parks and Recreation, will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Sharon Town Beach in Sharon, CT.
The fee for entry is $25 for adults, and children 12 and under run free. The fee includes fun awards and after-race refreshments. No pre-registration is required. Free T shirt to all registrants.
The 4.1 mile race begins and at the Town Beach, travels along Mudge Pond Road to Long Pond Road then to Valley Road to Mudge Town Road before ending up back at the Town Beach.

The Sharon Sunset Trot was born as a way to accommodate members of the Run 169 Towns Society whose members are committed to running a race in each of Connecticut’s 169 towns.
Because many Society members could not run on weekends, Matt Andrulis-Mette, Director of the Sharon Parks and Recreation, started the mid-week event. Matt noted that ” We try to be responsive to what our residents want”.
This year the Sharon Sunset Trot was renamed in honor of beloved Doctor and long-time Sharon resident Evan Rashkoff who passed away unexpectedly this past year. Also in Evan’s honor the proceeds from this year’s race will benefit MediShare, a humanitarian non-profit for which Evan volunteered his talents.

Back the Track Kickball Tournament will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Veterans’ Field, Sharon Station Road, Sharon, CT 06069. Rain date is Sunday, June 3rd. The event is sponsored by Sharon Parks and Recreation.
The entry fee for the event is $200 per team or $20 per person. Lunch for participants is included.
Go to sharonparksandrecreation.org to register. Registration deadline is Monday, May 28th. Registrants may join as a complete team or register as an individual and be placed on an unfilled team.

The Sharon Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary Annual Bunco Fundraiser will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Sharon Firehouse, 36 West Main St., Sharon, CT 06069.
The entry fee for the event is $20 per person and no reservations necessary.
The schedule is as follows:

7:00 pm Games begin
Light refreshments provided.
Cash prizes go to winners, but there are “loser prizes” as well. Everyone goes home with something according to organizers.
The event is a fundraiser for the Sharon fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Half of the proceeds will buy prizes for the tournament and the other half will help fund auxiliary programs. They offer scholarships to local high school students as well as Oliver Wolcott students. The auxiliary also helps to fund equipment purchases by the Sharon Fire Dept.
