Walk a Mile in Her Shoes the Virtual Experience

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes the Virtual Experience, will be held wherever you want , from May 11 – 31, 2020. This replaces the version held at the Litchfield Green the past two years.

Proceeds will benefit the Susan B. Anthony Project which provides confidential and free services including a 24-hour crisis line, 1:1 peer counseling, emergency shelter, support groups, and medical & legal advocacy for victims.  Transitional housing offers extended services to previously sheltered families creating a place to live without abuse while helping to achieve autonomy and work toward long-term goals.

Community Education programs are offered to school students in grades K-12 and beyond and to children in summer camp.  These programs address age appropriate issues of personal safety, teasing and bullying, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, dating violence, sexual harassment and assault.  Through presentations in schools, to civic groups, healthcare, police and other professionals, the agency seeks to build understanding of the scope of abuse and its impact/costs to individual women, children and society.

Burlington 10th Annual 5K Run/Walk, Whigville Edition

The Burlington 10th Annual 5K Run/Walk ,  Whigville Edition will be held Sunday, Oct. 27,  2019 at the Whigville Grange, 153 S. Main St., Burlington, CT.

The 5K kicks off the 4th Annual Whigville Harvest Fest which hosts a variety of games and activities for the whole family.

The race both begins and ends at the Grange, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes.

The entry fee for the Run/Walk is $30 for individuals, $15 for students and $60 for a family (up to four members).

Little Guild Run and Wag 5K

The Little Guild Run and Wag 5K will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019 at the Cornwall Town Green, Pine St., Cornwall, CT 06796. This is the event’s 6th year.

There will be ample parking in the village of Cornwall.

The 3.1 mile out and back race is sponsored by The Little Guild and is open to runners and walkers either with or without dogs.

Please consider the “Fundraise” button to help collect more donations. Pre-registration fee is  $25 per person or person/pet teams. Race day entry fee is $30. For 17 year olds and under, entry fee is $15.

Festivities will include activities and entertainment for children and live local music. Food will be available from Big Green Eggs and Hamburgers and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

The race day schedule is as follows:

10:00 – 11:45 am   Registration and packet pickup.

12 Noon  5K begins

1:30 pm  Award ceremony.

2:00 pm  Event ends

Awards will be presented to the top Dog/Human teams, male and female, and the top male and female solo runners. Top individual and team fundraisers will also receive awards.

The Run & Wag is one of the Little Guild’s primary fundraising events, with all proceeds supporting its day-to-day mission to rescue and find loving homes for the dogs and cats in its care.

Miles 4 Moe

Miles 4 Moe, will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Camp Moe, 1145 Brandy Hill, Torrington, CT.

The 10 year old  5K Race and  Walk will  begin and end at Camp Moe, rain or shine.

Register online  at or register on race day for an additional $5.

The registration fee for the race is $30 for adults, $20 for students 18 years and under and $50 for families with 4 or more members (no race giveaways). There is a $10 fee for picnic only.

The registration fee includes the race/walk, awards ceremony and after-race picnic. The first 100 registrants get a “Race Giveaway” (except “Family” registrants).

Race day schedule is as follows:

8:30-9:45 am  registration

10:00 am START – Runners/Walkers (walkers will line up behind runners)

Picnic and award ceremony following the race

Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers as well as 1st and 2nd place finishers in various age categories.

The Harvest Fest/Miles 4 Moe Race, along with the Miles for Moe Foundation were established to honor the life ofEmil “Moe” Renzullo Jr.  who passed away in 2010 at age 12 from leukemia and who loved going to camp.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Miles4Moe , a non-profit that benefits local children in the Litchfield County area, including money for camper scholarships to Camp MOE, a college scholarship to Explorations Charter School, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Pedia-toy drive, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center helping families who have a child diagnosed with cancer by purchasing gift cards to stores and gas stations for basic needs, and other schools and organizations in the area.

Torrington Lion’s Club 42nd Annual Golf Tournament

The Torrington Lion’s Club 42nd Annual Golf Tournament will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Green Woods Country Club, 300 Torringford Street, Winsted, CT 06098.

The 18 hole four-person scramble format event costs $115 per person (Green Woods members get a $25 discount) which includes green fees, cart, lunch, driving range privileges, on-course prizes, awards and buffet dinner. On-course contests include several closest-to-the-pin prizes as well as a 2019 Toyota as the hole-in-one prize.

Tournament day schedule is as follows:
