Trails Day is a two-day national event on the first weekend in June every year. It is a great time to pay tribute to all the wonderful trails our country has to offer. Trails and open spaces have become the places to escape to and enjoy when we need fresh air, a place to be inspired and to connect with our natural world.
Some local hikes of interest include the Torrington Trails Network hike Sunday at 10:00 am starting at The John Toto Sports Complex off Perkins Street. Log in at the Torrington Trails network Northeast CT YMCA or call 860 482-3952 to register.
Also at 10:00 am Sunday the Winchester Land Trust will celebrate Trails Day with a hike at the Houlihan Woods/Michael Giordano tribute area, 241 South Road.
Also the Norfolk Land Trust will sponsor an nature walk Sunday. Meet at 9:00 am at the Pine Mountain trail head off Grantville Road.
All three hikes are 1.5 – 2 miles long.
