37th Annual Northwest CT CROP Hunger Walk Virtual for 2020

The 37th Annual Northwest CT CROP Hunger Walk will be held virtually this year.

In past years over 500 people have gathered to walk, show their support  and raise money to fight hunger both locally and worldwide.

This year participants are asked to walk wherever and whenever they like from September 21st – 27th.

The CROP Walk is more important now than ever. Food insecurity has
increased greatly for many people in our community and around the
world. Right now, many of our friends and neighbors are struggling to buy
food for themselves and their families.

Last year the Crop Walk raised almost $40,000 to fight hunger both globally
and locally. Twenty-five percent of that total stayed in our community and
went directly to six local food pantries: *Fishes and Loaves, Corner Food
Pantry, Sharon Food Closet, NECC Food Pantry, St. Thomas’ Food Pantry and
the Kent Food Pantry* or was used in our unique voucher program.

Or contact the Rev. Heidi Truax from Trinity Episcopal Church by emailing
her at revheiditruax@gmail.com.

Let’s celebrate our walk and learn more about addressing food insecurity in
our community on *Sunday, September 27 at 1:00 PM. * We will host a Zoom
meeting with representatives of local food pantries, walkers, supporters
and organizers. Join us in celebrating our 2020 Walk and receive an update
on how food distribution is going in our towns and neighborhoods this year.

Please send us pictures of your walks or share them on social media with
#FVcropwalk2020.
