Highland Lake 5K Semi Virtual for 2020

The Highland Lake 5K will be run semi-virtually as part of the new Show & Go Run Series sponsored by the Northwest CT YMCA.

Here is what we mean by “semi-virtual”:

Participants will all run the same route starting at Highland Lake in Winsted, CT, but they will run on a date and time of their own choosing.

The race must be run between now and November 30th.

The Highland Lake 5K joins two other popular Y races- the Norwood Farm 5K Trail Race and the Highland Lake 5K  in a new semi-virtual race series.

Here is how the folks at NW CT Y explain it: “The goal of the YMCA Show & Go Run Series is to provide a safe series of run/ walk events throughout Northwest CT. Pick your day, run your race, & have fun while helping to raise funds for kids and families unable to afford the full cost of Y programs.

This event still allows participants to participate in a competitive event, but allows the run to be completed with your own choice of date & time.”

Runners will receive a course map and a beverage coupon upon registration.** Please use a running app (Nike, Strava, Map my run, etc.) to time your race. Email us (marketing@nwcty.org) your name, a screenshot of your final race results listing distance and time, & a selfie from the finish line! Results must be sent to us by November 30th, 2020.

Stay safe, get active & have fun! Don’t forget to grab your FREE drink at Little Red Barn Brewers after your run (beverage coupon must be provided).”

** Beverage coupons will be emailed out Mon-Friday. Any registration coming through after 3 pm on Friday will be sent their drink ticket the next Monday.

To register go here:  https://nwcty.org/portfolio-archive/highland5k/

“Stay safe, get active & have fun! At the Y, we believe that families who play together, stay together. Our Show & Go Run Series is a fantastic way for a family to share healthy values. Together, we can participate in a walk or run to benefit those who cannot afford the cost of Y programs.”

Proceeds will be used to help the Y to weather the storm so we can continue to serve children and families in need throughout this pandemic.”

The Highland Lake 5K, along with the Y’s other races, is sponsored by Center Subaru in Torrington, CT.
