The Relay For Life of Columbia County

The Relay For Life of Columbia County will be held on Friday June 16, 2017 from 6:00 pm Friday to 6:00 am Saturday at Columbia-Greene Community College, 4400 NY 23, Hudson, NY.

The schedule of events is as follows:

5:00 pm Registration, 6:00 pm event begins, 6:30 Opening Ceremony followed by  Survivors Lap,  Caregivers Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and Closing Ceremony.

Team members take turns walking around a track or other designated course. A requirement is that each team has a member walking at all times.

Money is raised by teams who solicit donations from individuals and businesses. There are a number of fundraising options some of which continue year round.

Relay For Life started in 1985 when Dr. Gordon “Gordy” Klatt  walked/ran for 24 hours on a track in Tacoma, Washington to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society.

Today teams raise funds at over 3,500 Relay events nationwide.

Proceeds from Relay For Life events “help the American cancer society fund ground-breaking cancer research, crucial patient care services, and prevention and early detection programs.”
