Canceled for 2020

IMSA Northeast Grand Prix will be held Friday and Saturday, October 30 – 31, 2020 at Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, CT.

The International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and Lime Rock Park have agreed to reschedule the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park as part of IMSA’s Return to Racing Plan announced today. Originally scheduled for July 17-18, 2020, the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix race weekend featuring the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Michelin Pilot Challenge, will now be held at Lime Rock on October 30-31, 2020.

“IMSA is grateful to all of our promoter partners for collaborating with us to develop a revised schedule of outstanding events,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “Our No. 1 priority since March has been to get back to racing as safely and as quickly as possible, and this revised schedule is evidence of that. We appreciate the patience, cooperation and input of our IMSA stakeholders, and we all are very much looking forward to going racing again this summer and putting on amazing races for our audience.”

To fulfill the vision of this family-friendly weekend, series officials believe that rescheduling to October provides the best opportunity for a safe event for everyone involved. Current ticket purchases will be valid for the October event date.

Additionally, Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber expressed a commitment to holding a 2020 season all while protecting fans, participants and staff. “Lime Rock’s reopening task force is working diligently with state officials on a plan to reopen safely while providing a fun option for everyone.”

Historic Festival 38 Labor Day Weekend (No Race Day Spectators)

Update (8/31)

Spectator tickets are still available for Sunday in the Park and Gathering of the Marques. Tickets will be shut off Wednesday at 5 and there will be no tickets sold at the gate! Get your ticket today!

The Historic Festival 38 Labor Day Weekend at Lime Rock Park will be held Thursday – Monday, September 3 – 7, 2020 at Lime Rock Park, but the format will be much different this year.

The Vintage Race & Sports Car Parade will be held as always on Thursday, September 3rd at 4 pm in a 17 mile 100 car parade which will wend its way through the area. But instead of ending in Falls Village with a massive car show and street festival, this year the cars will return to Lime Rock Park.

Each parade participant contributes $25 each that is donated to a local charity. Do you own a 1975 or older sports car or vintage race car and want to be in the Vintage Race & Sports Car Parade? Visit http://limerock.com/historicfestivalparticipantinfo to apply.

Friday (practice day), Saturday and Monday, unfortunately will be spectator less racing days.

Sunday however, enthusiasts can come to the Concourse event. Tickets are online-only so get them soon because attendance will be limited.

Dammit We Can Drive!

We will always find ways to express ourselves, no matter how onerous the  restraints. We can’t get together to celebrate a birthday or play a game, we can’t gather to mourn a loss, we can’t stand within two arm lengths of each other. Fine.

But dammit we can get in our cars and drive!

Around 40 cars worth of parade wound their way past fire houses and ambulance garages and health care facilities today to celebrate National Superheroes Day and to honor our first responders and health care heroes. Well-wishers held signs and waved from their vehicles, and at each facility along the route the heroes waved back.

Ten or 20 years from now when we look back on the Pandemic of 2020, one of the defining images of that time will be of people in their cars holding signs and paper hearts out of their windows, waving and calling out – not touching or hugging but still showing the love.

Thanks to the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce and Lime Rock Park and all of the big-hearted people who put on this moving display. And of course thanks to the heroes.
