Hillacious Half

The Hillacious Half will kick off Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at  the Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27, 400 Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT.

The H½ was created to honor our military, to thank them and let them know that their sacrifices are not unnoticed or taken for granted. The event is organized by Beth Murphy.

This course is extremely tough – to represent the efforts that our military make for us every day and often far away from their loved ones.

The  4th annual 13.1 mile race is open to individuals and two-person relay teams.

Buy a mile marker for $25 which will bear the name of someone you choose who is currently serving or has served in the military. The race begins and ends at the Legion Post. The second- leg members of the relay teams will be bused to the halfway point and first-leggers will be bused back to the starting point.

No pets, or wheels are allowed.

The entry fee for individuals is $50 per person and $100 per team.

Race day entry fees are $60 and $120.

For an additional $10, both runners and non-runners can buy a dog tag with name of a service man or woman, presently serving or a veteran. Wear it during the race and keep it as a participation memento. Call Beth Murphy  at (860) 459-8596 about dog tag details.

Register online at http://www.hillacioushalf.com/#hillacious-half or call Beth to get a mail-in entry form. Entry forms are also available in several Litchfield businesses. Register by  Oct. 22 to get dated T shirt. After Oct. 22, get undated T shirt with no size guarantee.

Timing is by Fast Track Timing.

Friday, Nov 15th, the night before the race, 5-7 pm  at the American Legion- early packet pickup and late entry, and view Wall of Honor.

The race day schedule is as follows:

8:00  am  Packet pickup, registration and last minute signup

10:00 am  Race begins

Awards, raffles and post-race party hosted by the American Legion. Food and beer will be available for sale, and everyone, not just the runners, are invited.

The top male and  female finisher will have their names engraved on a perpetual trophy housed at the Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27 in Litchfield. There will be dog tags and other prizes awarded.

Proceeds from the race, after expenses, will help area veterans or their families in need. Last year’s race raised about $4,000.

Participants as well as spectators are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the Legion Post to support their thanksgiving food drive.
