OK5K Run Virtual for 2021

The 2021 version of the OK5K 5K Run will be virtual this year.

Dan Curtin, director of The OK5K Race in Kinderhook, has announced plans for a virtual-only event this June.

“This would be an informal run we hope will keep our beloved race in the minds of runners, as well as raise awareness of local charities the OK5K has historically supported.”

Although there will be no formal registration or fundraising, participants are encouraged to log 3.1 miles at any location they choose between June 11 to June 14, 2021 (while adhering to CDC guidelines on safety and social distancing) and submit their results to kinderhookok5krace@gmail.com by June 15.

“We also encourage runners to donate to their local food pantries,” said Mr. Curtin, adding that he looks forward to seeing everyone in person in 2022.

All proceeds from the OK5k Race are donated to local non-profit, charitable organizations. Last year, the OK5k Race donated $10,200 to 16 different organizations. In its 20 years, the race has donated $121,868 to 30 different organizations. All of those contributions go back directly to the Northern Columbia community, benefiting groups such as Boy Scouts, school clubs, fire departments, libraries, food pantries, fraternal organizations, youth organizations, rescue squads, historical societies, trails and fitness. Please continue to support this truly community-based event. It’s not just about running.
