Barbecue and Corn Hole Tournament

The Barbecue and Corn Hole Tournament will be held Sunday, September 15, 2019 at VFW Couch-Pipa Post 6851, 104 S. Canaan Road, Canaan, CT 06018.

The event is co-sponsored by VFW Couch-Pipa, Great Falls Brewery and the McCall Center for Behavioral Health.

The cost for the event is $12 per  person for BBQ and Music only.

$20 per person also includes Corn Hole tournament.

Live music provided by BRB and Kevin & Pete.

Deadline for registration is Sept. 13th.

The day’s events run 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the McCall Center for Behavioral Health “Opening Doors for Veterans” program.

Macedonia Trail Race

The Macedonia Trail Races will be held Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Macedonia Brook State Park, 159 Macedonia Brook Road, Kent, CT 06757.

New this year- both  25K and 50K races have been added along with the 7.25 mile race. The event is organized by Steep Endurance.

Entry fees:

7.25 mile

$35 through June 30

$40  July 1 – Aug. 31

$45  Sept. 1 – Race Day

25K

$60  through June 30

$65  July 1 – Aug. 31

$70  Sept. 1 – Race Day

50K

$70  Through June 30

$80  July 1 – Aug. 31

$90 Sept.1 – Race Day

Free T shirts to the first 100 pre-registrants by Sept. 5th.

Race Day Schedule:

6:00 am  Race day registration and packet pickup

7:00 am  50K begins

8:00 am 25K begins

9:00 am  7.25 mile begins

11:00 am Awards ceremony for 7.25 runners

1:50 pm  Cutoff for 50Kers to start third loop

5:00 pm Cutoff for 25K/50K.

Awards to male and female 7.25 mile winners in six age categories.

25K and 50K finisher medals and additional winner awards.

Post-race refreshments. Note: No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Park.

The Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series is a sequence of races in Connecticut that are run entirely or in part on the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails (BBHT). The BBHT are maintained by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA). The goals of the series are:

  • To promote and create greater awareness of trail running on the BBHT System
  • Attract more runners to Connecticut trail running races
  • Strengthen the running community
  • Raise awareness for CFPA’s trail maintenance efforts
  • Enhance the experience for the runners who already support our races through series points and recognition

Dutchess County Classic

The Dutchess County Classic, will celebrate its  41st Anniversary  Sunday, September 15, 2019 at a new location, Duchess Community College, 53 Pendell Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. The staging area is located in the College’s Parking Lot E, 40 Creek Road, Poughkeepsie.

This new location will allow races to take advantage of both the Dutchess Rail Trail and the Walkway Over the Hudson ( for half and full marathons).

This year’s event also features expanded race options including full marathons both running and wheeled, half marathons both running and wheeled, a 5K and a Kids 1 Mile Run.

Age requirements:

1 Mile Run: ages 4-12

5K: Minimum 10 years old by race day, or under 10 with parental permission.

Full and half marathons:  Minimum 14 years old by race day, under 14 with parental permission.

The entry fees:

(Please note: a service fee will be added to each pre-registration)

The wheeled events welcome wheelchairs and hand cranks.

Full marathons (Run and Wheel):   $65 through July 13th, $75 after July 13th, $85 Race Day.

Half Marathons (Run and Wheel):   $55 through July 13th, $65 after July 13th, $75 Race Day.

5K :  $25 through July 13th, $35 after July 13th, $40 Race Day.

Kids 1 Mile Run : Free through pre-registration, $10 Race Day.

T shirt guaranteed to all pre-registered by July 13th.

Race Day:

If pre-registered, arrive 45 minutes before your race.

If race- day registering, arrive 90 minutes before your race.

6:45 – 7:45 am   Packet pickup

8:00 am  Kids’ 1 Mile Race

 

8:15 am  Full and Half Marathon (Wheel)

8:30 am  Full and Half Marathon (Run)

8:45 am  5K

Refreshments and awards served after race.
