Berkshire South Community Center 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk Virtual
Berkshire South Community Center 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk will be held as a virtual event on its regularly scheduled date, May 2, 2020.
Berkshire South 8th Annual
(and 1st Virtual) 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser
Start/Finish Line: Your own driveway
Route: Your neighborhood/Your favorite walking or running route
Race Day: May 2
Race Start: 10 am Rain or Shine!
For the last seven years, runners and walkers have helped raise funds for Berkshire South’s Teen & Youth Wellness programs by participating in our 5K Run/Walk. This year, out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and well being of our community, we’re holding a Virtual 5K. We hope you’ll come together with us in the spirit of community to support these vital programs, which need your support now more than ever.
Participation couldn’t be easier!
Choose your route. Measure the distance of your favorite running route or walking path. Aim for a distance as close to 5K as possible.
Run or walk your chosen route at 10 am on May 2nd. Take video or photos of yourself, your walking mates or your route before, during or after your run.
Send your video, images and run times to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll share them on social media and on our website. We can’t wait to show how we all came together when we had to stay apart.
The registration fee for the in-person event was $30 per participant. Please consider a donation in that amount, or more, to support Berkshire South’s wellness programs for the young people in our community.
All registrants that pay the suggested donation amount will receive a race t-shirt following the event. A member from our team will be in touch with you about sizes.
Fundraising participants seek sponsorship for their participation in the run/walk event and turn donations in to Berkshire South to support our Teen and Youth Wellness Programs.
Please fill out the online program registration form below to participate as a fundraising participant. Alternatively, you can print and fill out the paper form and return it to the Community Center by mailing it to 15 Crissey Road, Great Barrington, MA 01230 or emailing it to email@example.com.

Million Mile 2019
The Million Mile 2019 will take place from September 1 through September 30, 2019. This is a virtual event, so people can participate wherever they live.
The Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF) is the organizer of this event which coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The event is presented by Volvo, and Aldi is the gold sponsor.
Participants are asked to keep track of the miles they log during the month of September by walking, jogging, running, biking or however they choose to move. They are encouraged to fundraise – asking friends, family and coworkers to contribute for each mile logged.
The goal is to log a total of 1 million miles during the month.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is named after Alexandra “Alex” Scott who was born in 1996. Before her first birthday, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. She endured years of treatment and hospital stays. At age four she said, “When I get out of the hospital, I want to have a lemonade stand”, to raise money, not for herself, but so doctors could “help other kids like they helped me.”
With her family’s help, Alex’s lemonade stand raised $2,000 that first year. Word of Alex’s story spread, spawning lemonade stands around the country.
Alex passed away in 2004 at eight years old. The movement she started raised $1 million dollars .
Today, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation continues the work she started.
