Here is a message from the ALS Association:
We invite our Hudson Valley Walkers to “Walk from Home” as we take the Walk to Defeat ALS virtual!
On SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18TH, our start lines will be spread across the region as we remain united in one goal: a world without ALS.
To support our mission, we encourage you to host your own “mini-walk” from wherever you call home. Engage your family, friends, and neighbors in fun and safe ways as you design your Walk from Home to fit your team’s needs. Take a walk or ride around your neighborhood, spread the word about ALS, host a post-Walk gathering, and take lots of photos while you create another year of cherished memories.
What Comes Next:
- Get Registered
Sign up as a Team Captain or Individual Walker for the 2020 Hudson Valley Walk to Defeat ALS.
2. Spread The Word
Send emails, texts, and make phone calls to get the word out to your community. The Walk has come to your home, so we hope to see Walks all around the state!
3. Get Fundraising
Set up a Facebook fundraiser and/or an email campaign to share your story. Your friends and family want to know why you’re a leader in the fight against ALS and why you need their support now more than ever. We will continue to do whatever it takes to support people living with ALS by continuing to fundraise- we cannot slow down now!
How It Works:
Earn Your “Walk in a Box”
We will send the Walk to you! Want to receive a “Walk in a Box” of a branded start line, noisemakers, games for kids, Walk tee shirts and more? The more you fundraise, the bigger your box! A “Walk in a Box” will be sent to Team Captains whose team raises $1,000 or more. As your fundraising total increases, so does your SWAG!
Join Us On Walk Day
We will start the day with a Facebook Live opening ceremony and virtual ribbon cutting. Throughout the day, we will share tons of stories and photos from participants across the state.
While the Walk to Defeat ALS experience may look different this year, no one will be walking alone. Together, we can raise the vital funds the Chapter relies on to provide support to families on their ALS journey, advocate at the highest levels for governmental support, and fund cutting-edge research in the search for a cure.
Especially now, during this time of uncertainty, we need your help as we continue to provide resources and develop new ways to support people living with ALS and their families. We cannot do it without you.
Thank you for your flexibility and your commitment to defeating ALS! We are #ALSinthistogether.
