Murphy Open

The Murphy Open, the tournament where “the only rule is that there are no rules” tees off for the 24th year Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Egremont Country Club in South Egremont, MA.

Cost for the 18 hole, four-person scramble format event is $125 per person which includes lunch, cart, green fees, tournament prizes, on-course contests and a post tournament buffet. There is a $480 per team price if pre-registered by June 1st.

Men’s, women’s and mixed teams welcome. No Professionals please.

New This Year: MURPHY OPEN FASHION SHOW, inspired by Murphy Open founder Fred Stevenson who has, for decades, sported his Payne Stewart-esque outfit. This will be a pay-to-enter event ($10) on the day for registered golfers only  which benefits the Bargain Barn in Sharon, CT. The show is sponsored by Golfknickers.com and the Bargain Barn of Sharon.

There will be awards for 1st place and prize money for first, second and third place teams regardless of category for 1st place men’s, women’s and mixed teams as well fun last place and slowest team awards.

Contests include closest to the pin, longest drive,  closest to the line and many hole-in-one opportunities sponsored by WHDD Robin Hood Radio. Golfers can also bid on prizes in a Chinese raffle which is supported by businesses throughout the Tri-State region, and will be  offered during registration and lunch. A silent auction will run all day with a larger prize package anchored by Herrington’s  .

Tournament day schedule is as follows:

11:00 am Registration and lunch (cooked-to-order burgers and dogs)

12:00 noon Shotgun start

Awards, Chinese  Raffle, silent auction winner reveal, and slider buffet immediately following tournament.

Proceeds from the Tournament will benefit local VFW and American Legion Posts.

The Murphy Open was organized to honor the life of William “Murph” Mayberry.

Couch-Pipa VFW 27th Annual Golf Tournament

Rescheduled from September 29th

The Couch-Pipa VFW 27th Annual Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Egremont Country Club, 685 S. Egremont Road, in Great Barrington, MA 01230.

The 18 hole, four-person scramble format event also requires a participant’s handicap to determine into which of four flights each team will be entered. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each flight.

The entry fee for the tournament is $100 per person which includes green fees, coffee and donuts, cart, gift, lunch and beverages, on-course contests, awards and a prime rib dinner.

On course contests include closest to the pin and longest drive for both men and women.

Participants must register in advance. The deadline for registration is September 22th, but organizers suggest early registration because the tournament always fill up.

John F. Foley Lone Oak Challenge Annual Golf Tournament

The John F. Foley Lone Oak Challenge Annual Golf Tournament will be held Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Egremont Country Club, 685 S. Egremont, MA 01230.

The entry fee for the 18 hole, four-person, best ball scramble format tournament is $125 per person which includes green fees, cart, lunch , on-course contests, awards and dinner. There will also be a putting contest and 50-50 holes. On-course contests include closest to the pin, longest drive and two hole in one opportunities – a 2019 Subaru Outback sponsored by Premier Subaru and 2019 Scag 61″ Cheetah lawn mower sponsored by Crane Outdoor.

Monument Mountain Regional High School Spartan Football Golf Tournament

The Monument Mountain Regional High School Spartan Football Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Egremont Country Club, 685 S. Egremont Road, Great Barrington, MA 01230.

The tournament is an 18 hole, four-person scramble. The entry fee is $100 per person which includes green fees, cart, complimentary coffee and donuts, buffet lunch, on-course contests and awards. There will also be a raffle.

The tournament day schedule is as follows:

8-9 am Registration, coffee and donuts.

9 am Shotgun start

Awards and buffet lunch after tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament will help fund new equipment and bus transportation costs for the Monument Mountain High School Spartan Football Team through its Booster Club.

The Friends of Moe Golf Tournament

The Friends of Moe Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Egremont Country Club in Great Barrington, MA.

The tournament is a four- person, gross and handicap scramble format. New this year is a two-putt maximum. If all four team members miss the first putt, the second putt is good. Otherwise, typical scramble rules apply.

The entry fee is $100 per person which includes green fees, cart, lunch, on-course contests, awards and dinner. Contests include hole in one, closest to the pin, longest drive, most accurate drive and more. There will also be a putting and chipping contest as well as a raffle.

Entry to the tournament is by pre-registration only, but the event always fills up, so register early by calling Randy Koldys at (413) 717-0606 or email him at  rkoldys2004@yahoo.com.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit local people suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. In the tournament’s seven years, over $95,000 has been raised. This year, organizers hope to raise $20,000 to aid three individuals.

The Friends of Moe Golf Tournament was organized to honor  Maureen “Moe” Snyder who passed away in 2003 after a battle with leukemia.  Her life inspired some of her friends to start this tournament as a way to both honor her memory and raise funds to help those similarly afflicted.

Because of the number of people involved in this tournament, organizers consider it a community event as much as a tournament.

The Steve Blass Golf Tournament, 12th Annual

The Steve Blass Golf Tournament, 12th Annual, will be held Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Egremont Country Club in Great Barrington, MA.

The entry fee for the 18 hole, four-person scramble format event is $130 per person and includes green fees, cart,  boxed lunch,  on-course contests, prizes, awards and dinner. There is a $40 dinner-only option.

On-course contests include closest to the pin, closest to the line, longest drive and hole-in-one. There will also be a raffle including great pro sports memorabilia.

The Tournament’s namesake, Steve Blass, is a hometown hero who graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School and went on to greatness,  pitching two complete winning games for the Pittsburg Pirates in the 1971 World Series. This tournament  is Steve’s way of giving back to a school system that he credits for much of his success.
